This website has been created to provide an information resource for the Castle Hill Basin area.

Castle Hill Basin is located in the Canterbury high country of the South Island, New Zealand at an altitude of 700m between the Torlesse and Craigieburn mountain ranges approximately 90km northwest of Christchurch.

RECENT NEWS AND INFORMATION

  • 28 April 2008: Cave Stream Reserve will be closed until October while extensive work to upgrade the Cave Stream Reserve visitor facilities takes place. Click here for more information.
  • 11 Feb 2008: Thunderstorms dumped torrential rain on the Castle Hill area- 62mm of rain fell within an hour with a maximum rainrate of 174.6 mm/hr. For more details and images of the flood click here here.
